Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

I am a very happy father. I love my kids. And therefore I have to gush a little bit. This weekend Martha decided to put rollers in Maddy's hair overnight. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen. It totally melted my heart. I have never felt this way before. I was having kind of a rough day...and when I saw how goofy she felt and smiled at me like that with curlers in her hair, I had to capture the moment. You goofy little girl. You are such a treasure. I am totally...totally wooped. I love my daughter so much, I wish she could stay little. Last night when I got home, she fought through Bryson and Brandon to grab my neck with her two little arms and wouldn't let go for anything. I had to pry her hands off of me but that wasn't until after she was done hugging and kissing my face. And all I had to do was walk in the house. I didn't have to bring her anything, or buy her anything, or even be nice in any way. It's such a great feeling to be a daddy. It's day's like this that make you wish they would never ever grow up. I found this quote online that states it plain as day.
The father of a daughter is nothing but a high-class hostage. A father turns a stony face to his sons, berates them, shakes his antlers, paws the ground, snorts, runs them off into the underbrush, but when his daughter puts her arm over his shoulder and says, "Daddy, I need to ask you something," he is a pat of butter in a hot frying pan. ~Garrison Keillor

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaw, makes me wish I would've tried a 4th time-----NOT.....LOL LOL. Knowing Eli's side of the family, I would've ended up with 4 boys. Thank God everyday for your children..you are lucky to have had a girl...poor poor Eli. BUT, on the other hand, I feel VERY blessed with my 3 boys..I wouldn't trade them for a million girls. When I'm surrounded by them, I feel like a queen!! I always say "I am blessed and thankful for what God HAS given me and I will not dwell on the things "I" think HE 'should have' given me." Your blog is great..and so is NetNewsWire.

Thanks Amy. I can't speak for anyone else, but I do love all my kids. And my princes...is exactly that, my princess. It's hard to describe the difference...I mean, I love all my boys. But with boys you have to have a tough love a lot of the time. It's not the same. And of course, she doesn't come close to replacing Martha. But she does hold a very special place in my heart that no other person in this world can. I didn't even know those feelings existed. It's very different. But absolutely, my boys hold a very special place in my heart as well. If you read back a few months you can read about that. I love ALL my kids.
