Perfection by the KING
Yesterday was an amazing day in Mariners history. Felix Hernandez pitched a perfect game. For those of you that don't know what a perfect game is. It means no one got on base for the other team. No walks, errors, or hits. It's so rare that Felix threw only the 23rd Perfect game in the history of Major League Baseball. I grew up watching the Mariners over the years... from Mark Langston, to Brian Holman, to the promise of Mike Moore, to Chris Bosio, Randy Johnson and Freddy Garcia. I mean, years of watching Mariner games. I remember listening to the Dave Niehaus call of Brian Holman's game against the Oakland A's. Brian had 26 outs in a row. Then pinch hitter and former Seattle Mariner Ken Phelps steps in and hits a home run. Breaks up the perfect game and the no-hitter. Heart wrenching. But yesterday as I was watching on game day on the computer, I felt there was something special right away after the first three outs. It was just so quick. Then 9 straight... I knew for sure it was going to be a VERY special day. By the 7th inning I couldn't contain myself...I darted out the door and went home from work to go catch the last inning with my kids. And I just made it. Incredible. Felix ruled supreme. He was truly the king of the mound yesterday. I wanted to share a video that my cousin's son Isaiah shared with me after the game. Just so you can see how insane it was there. Felizidades a Felix EL REY.
