The first snow...

Tonight was the first snow. It rained lightly most of the day but then in the late evening the rain turned to snow. For a while it seemed like it wasn't going to stick but the flurries got worse and the temperature dropped. Here's a picture I took at Walmart this evening. It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. :) The temperature is supposed to be single digits for 7 days. BRRRRR...
I can tell you this, I'm all shopped out and I still don't have anything for Martha. The kids are easy. But my wife...well that's another story. I'm still looking. If you have any ideas...shoot them over my way. I might even give you credit for it... Oh and one more thing. One of the neatest gifts I got for my birthday was from my sister-in-law Maggie...is a sign that says, "A baseball fan lives here...with the woman he never struck out with." I love it. Thanks Maggie!
Abner and Eric made it safely down to Mexico. I spoke with dad today and they were all in Monterrey and "La Villa de Santiago". I'm a bit depressed that I didn't get to go this year. It's always fun to go see family and friends that you don't see all year. It's also fun to just go relax...get away from the cell phone. Have some good food...did I mention relax? Peel some oranges...with some chilito... Rocking on rocking chairs on the porch...looking up at the stars in the warm evenings. Playing uno with friends. Going out for a walk. Going for a ride on the 4 wheeler. Waking up in the morning to freshly squeezed orange juice and a warm bright sun that kisses your cheeks. Taking in a game of baseball. Going to church walking. Tunas. Having barbacoa tacos. How about a shrimp cocktail? Or a pachanga with the guys...out in the open range. Bonfires... Lomas... Yeah...I miss it. Maybe next year... *sigh*

Ben, i'm right there with you, and your making me hungry with the mentioning of barbacoa tacos. We had our first snow last night, mostly ice though. My suggestion for Martha would be to buy her a massage and a peticure, i'm sure she's always busy and needs some time to relax, just a thought.
