Roughing it...or not!

First of all I want to begin with letting you all know that I haven't forgotten about you guys! I miss you too! LOL! I've been a bit busy with all the loves of my life lately. Yes, the truck, baseball with my oldest son, and having some fun with my wife and kids. Lately I sound like that old AT&T commercial..."hello? yeah, I'd like to buy some time please! Thank you!" LOL! Stage laughter please...thanks. I'm not even getting chuckles anymore am I? It must be the weather. :)
Anyhow, two weeks ago Benjamin played in two tournaments. He played in Yakima with the Pasco All Star "B" team and also with the Pasco Thunder here in Kennewick. It was my first experience with a crazy baseball schedule. Making it on time to all the games wasn't a problem at all! Well, other than that ticket I got on the way to Yakima. "Officer, I'm so sorry, I um..I um...yes I know I was speeding sir...how fast? I don't know really...um, I apologize sir...why am I in a hurry, well...my son's first All Star game starts in...oh 20 mins and I don't want him to miss it...break? Thank you...(as he walks back to his car)...$113...that's a BREAK?? WOW! OUCH!" As I walked him into the baseball complex at East Valley, the announcer had just begun announcing the players. Whew...he made it. Well, the team lost 19 to 0 and the following game 20 to 0. Tough showing at the All Star tourney. But hey, other teams lost to those two teams by 29 points or more. So, we held our own. I'm proud of how my son played. He pitched 1 inning and allowed zero earned runs (2 unearned - due to an error) in the first game. On offense, he walked in his 2 plate appearances and had a stolen base. I'm very proud of his performance. I made sure he felt honored and blessed that he was able to play in an All Star tournament. God has certainly blessed him/us. :)
On 4th of July weekend, we went camping with my side of the family at Cascade Peaks RV Park & Resort near White Pass. Sandra & Hector even made a load up here from Texas to go camping with us on the 4th. We had so much fun. My father in law gave me an RV and of course I had to buy a truck to tow it. Well I finally got to use the truck to tow the RV. After spending over $1000 to fix odds and ends and prepare it for the trip, I pulled it into the mountains. I had never camped in an RV. What an awesome experience. It's so nice. Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE nature. I love staying in the outdoors just as much as anyone...but this is one weekend I totally appreciated staying out of the rain and away from the hungry humming bird sized mosquitoes. Mostly we played skipbo and hung out by the campfire...we tried to go up to Mt. St. Helens, but it was closed due to 8ft of snow on the mountain. We watched the most awesome fireworks display at white pass high school in Randle, WA. All my boys and I have what looks like warts all over our arms and legs thanks to the mosquitoes. Maddy and Martha? Not a single mosquito bite. Imagine that. That's just plain crazy..and not fair at all! Needless to say, we had a relaxing trip. It felt so awesome to have a truck and tow a toy. It's one of those things you always think you're going to do some day...and I finally did. I can check that one off the list. On the way back we went to Miners in Yakima and Fidel and I bought Josh and Abner their lunch thanks to our losing a game of golf at the resort. Victory must have tasted so good for them...we'll get em next time Fidel. ;)
